Position Description:

The Commercial Sales Manager - High Performance Doors Wayne-Dalton brand will have the Western United States as their territory with responsibilities that include selling commercial products to end-user customers. Responsible for market penetration within the assigned territory, including MIX, margin and new product management. Responsible for establishing and maintaining strong business relations. 

 

Position Location:

While we are not offering relocation assistance, the individual needs to live near a major airport in the territory with an easy commute to a major airport.

 

Reports Into:

This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager, High Performance Doors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is to grow sales by identifying, prospecting, and selling commercial opportunities and maintaining existing end user customers within the assigned territory.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining business relations with general contractors, architects, dealers, distributors and customers, and prospective customers.
  • Responsible for prospecting and cold calling, maintaining consistent customer contact and communication along with aggressive follow up to achieve targeted growth.
  • Maintaining call-reports, communicate new business opportunities, and market intelligence to the company.
  • Develop strong relationships with developers, contractors, engineers, architect, and end user customers.
  • Directs customer sales efforts by utilizing point of sale material and programs.
  • Ensures effective channels of communications are maintained in all level of sales, management, production, and customer service.
  • Analyzes competitor activities in relationship to product, pricing, promotions, and new products.
  • Analyzes customer needs as related to product forecasting, problem solutions, personnel training, and most other activities related to maintaining a sales force.
  • Responsible for effective management and sales of current and new product introductions to the current and new customers.
  • Participate in the direction, strategies, and implementation of all programs or policies. To creatively develop customized programs for his or her territory.
  • Responsible for developing territory sales budgets and individual account goals, promoting product loyalty and managing and maintaining marketing guidelines.
  • Develop strategies to obtain new accounts and strengthen relationships with existing accounts.
  • Demonstrate effective negotiating skills in all aspects of interaction.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills, good judgment, and the ability to achieve consistent high levels of results.
  • Spend quality field time with distributors with focus on increasing sales and market share growth.
  • Provide accurate monthly forecasts and monthly reports.

 Other Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with Marketing, Engineering and all other Associates.
  • Willing to travel including overnight 50% of time.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Sales Director and/or executives.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of seven to ten years of experience selling an engineered product; specifically in High Performance (High Speed) Doors.
  • Sales management experience with proven track record to grow sales in assigned territory.
  • A positive individual who is extremely professional with high integrity and strong work ethics, with the ability to give and receive respect. Honor confidentiality.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills with the ability to demonstrate our brand to both small and large groups with marketing tools and manuals.  Good listening skills.
  • An enthusiastic, energetic individual with a commanding presence and strong customer relationship building skills.
  • Must have strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • A self-confident and assured individual who is able to command respect, think quickly and work independently. An entrepreneurial spirit who is able to work as a member of the team.
  • A motivated individual who is not satisfied with maintaining the status quo and willing to do whatever is necessary to advance in the organization. A proven over-achiever with the willingness to move anywhere to advance their career.  Must have the potential to be promoted at least two jobs
  • A goal oriented individual who is able to think creatively and demonstrates consistent achievement.
  • Must be a self-motivated professional with the ability to engage, possessing excellent selling skills. Must have strong organizational and analytical skills; responsible time management and timely reporting required.
  • Ability to think and operate both short and long term, be able to hit sales numbers without sacrificing long term goals.
  • Must possess a strong mechanical/technical aptitude and be good with numbers. An understanding of the construction industry with the ability to understand plans and specifications.  Must also have an understanding of both pricing and P&L as it relates to customers.
  • Must possess computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A versatile individual with the ability to handle multiple cultures, as well as strong problem solving skills and the ability to break down walls.
  • A risk taker, resilient with proven mental and physical tenacity. Aggressive, not afraid to fail or make mistakes.
  • A self-starter who is competitive in nature.
  • A strategic sales professional with the ability to sell to the end user. Experience with consultative selling.  Can see beyond traditional sales channels.
  • Think strategically in terms of distribution and end user management (multi-dimensional thinking).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities. Constant learning capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications, Lotus Notes and data entry

Education Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree, preferable in Business, Marketing or Engineering (or related business experience), plus a minimum of 3 years territorial sales experience in construction and/or building products.  Prior door and/or loading dock experience preferred but not required.
